Rein mit angebornem Glanze
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Rein mit angebornem Glanze
    Wallt dahin des Lebens Quelle,
    Klarer Spiegel jede Welle
    In dem wunderbaren Tanze.

Doch bedürftige Gestalten
    Bücken sich vom Ufer nieder,
    Und der Erdensorge Walten
    Scheint im heil'gen Bache wieder,
Daß ihm Licht und Wärm' erkalten.

Ewig ist des Stromes Milde,
    Ewig ist sein leichtes Schweben,
    Aber kurz das Erbenleben,
    Nah die störenden Gebilde! --

Pure with innate radiance
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Pure with innate radiance
The well-spring of life flows onward,
    Every wave a clear mirror
    In the wondrous dance.

But needy figures
    Bow down from the shore,
And the workings of earthly cares
Are reflected in the holy stream,
So that the light and warmth within it grow cold.

The benevolence of the current is eternal,
    Eternal its gentle floating,
But life on earth is short,
Near are the disturbing shapes! --
