Rundgesang
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Wenn die Schicht verfahren ist,
Sitzt sich's gut beim Wein,
D'rum, ihr Freunde schenkt zur Frist,
Nur fein fleißig ein.
Lasset in der Teufe Nacht
Alle Sorg' und Plag',
Nur was froh und heiter macht,
Komm' mit euch zu Tag.
Wenn die Schicht verfahren ist,
Braucht es neue Kraft,
Und der Rebe Nektar fließt
Auch der Knappenschaft.
Rundgesang und Becherklang,
Ei, wie reimt das gut,
Sie nur bringen recht in Gang
Frohen Bergmannsmuth.
Nur mit dem Trifolium
Sitzt sich's gut beim Wein,
Jeder von euch stimme d'rum
Laut und fröhlich ein.
Ist's doch jeder Wackre werth,
Der da fährt zu Grund,
Daß ein Glas ihm sei verehrt
Von der Brüder Rund.
Klug nur ist: wer jetzt vergißt
Fäustel und Gestein,
Wenn die Schicht verfahren ist,
Sitzt sich's gut beim Wein!

Round
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
When the shift is over,
It is nice to sit over some wine,
Thus, my friends, at this time
Top up the glasses assiduously.
Leave all your cares and vexations
Below in the depth’s night,
May only that which makes one happy and merry
Come up with you into daylight.
When the shift is over,
New strength is needed,
And the nectar of the vine flows
For the miner’s guild as well.
A round and the clinking of beakers,
Ah, that goes well together,
Only they truly call forth
Joyful miners’ courage.
Only with this set of three
Does one sit nicely over some wine,
Everyone therefore join in
Loudly and gladly.
For every courageous man
Who descends into the mines
Deserves to have a glass
Raised to him by his brethren.
Only he is wise who now forgets
Sledgehammer and rocks.
When the shift is over,
It is nice to sit over some wine.
