by Richard Pohl (1826 - 1896)

Einsame Möve! Vom dürren Strand
Language: German (Deutsch)
Einsame Möve! Vom dürren Strand
Durch Sturm, durch Nebel vorwärts dringend,
Nach unbekanntem, nach fernem Land
Von Woge dich zu Woge schwingend:

Du bist des einsamen Sängers Bild
Dem liebeleer sein Leben schwindet,
Nach einer Heimath mit Sehnen erfüllt,
Die er auf Erden nimmer findet.

Die Schwinge berührt das donnernde Meer,
Die Blicke sind nach Oben gerichtet,
Die Welt umher ist öde und leer:
So hab ich gerungen, so hab ich gedichtet!
