Voluptueusement berçons notre faiblesse 
Dans l'océan du soir morne et délicieux.

Lente extase, houleux sommeil exempt de songe, 
Le flux funèbre roule et déroule et prolonge 
Tes cheveux où mon front se pâme enseveli...

Ô calme soir, qui hais la vie et lui résistes, 
Quel long fleuve de paix léthargique et d'oubli 
Coule dans les cheveux profonds des brunes tristes.
