Les Heures
Language: French (Français)
Au clocher de la cathédrale,
Où l'horloge bat sous l'auvent,
L'heure parfois rit, parfois râle,
Selon le caprice du vent.

Tantôt, sonore et violente,
Dans le silence, tour à tour
Chaque heure en frémissant se plante
Comme une flèche au cœur du jour ;

Tantôt on dirait qu'incertaine
L'heure a peur, tremble et n'ose pas ;
Elle tinte faible et lointaine,
Lente et dolente comme un glas.

D'autres fois, par les gais dimanches
Où, devant le porche assemblés,
Chapeaux rouges et robes blanches
Semblent de grandes fleurs des blés,

Les heures vives et vermeilles,
Du beau cadran d'or et de feu,
S'élancent comme des abeilles
Tumultueuses dans le bleu !
