Traum von der Mutter
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG FRE
Draußen auf den warmen Wiesen
Will ich nach den Wolken sehen
Und die müden Augen schließen
Und ins Träumeland hinüber
Hin zu meiner Mutter gehen.
Oh, sie hat mich schon vernommen!
Leise geht sie mir entgegen,
Der ich ferneher gekommen,
Meine Stirne, meine Hände,
Still in ihren Schoß zu legen.
Wird sie jetzt nach Dingen fragen,
Die ich nur mit Scham gestehe
Und mit bitterlichen Klagen?
Nein, sie lacht! Sie lacht und freut sich
Meiner lang vermißten Nähe.

Rêve de ma mère
Language: French (Français)  after the German (Deutsch)
Dehors sur les chaudes prairies
Je veux regarder les nuages
Et fermer mes yeux fatigués
Et dans le pays des rêves
Rejoindre ma mère la-haut.
Oh, elle m'a déjà entendu,
Elle vient doucement vers moi
Qui suis venu de loin,
Pour poser en silence sur ses genoux
Mon front, mes mains.
Va-t-elle maintenant s'enquérir
De choses que j'avoue avec honte
Et avec d'amères plaintes ?
Non, elle rit ! Elle rit et se réjouit
De ma présence après une longue absence.
