Constitutionslied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Junger Kraft lebend'ges Walten
Gab uns eine neue Zeit,
Frei sind nun die Geist's Gewalten,
Denken, Glauben sind befreit.
Freiheit gab zum Siegeskranz
Seinen Völkern Kaiser Franz!

Unter Seinem Fürstenschilde
Blühen Kunst und Wissenschaft,
In dem Scepter herrscht die Milde,
Und in Seinem Schwert die Kraft.
Friedensglück und Siegesglanz
Schmücken unsern Kaiser Franz!

Hass und Zwietracht sind verschwunden,
In dem schönen Oesterreich,
Was getrennt war ist verbunden,
Alle sind in Liebe gleich,
Unser Vaterlandes Glanz
Gab und schirmet Kaiser Franz!

Gott! lass alles Glück ihn haben,
Ihn, der unsers Glückes Stern;
Sende Deine besten Gaben
Unserm Kaiserlichen Herrn;
Hüthe Seiner Krone Glanz,
Ew'ger! unserm Kaiser Franz!

Note: This is the text used for the publication of Schubert's cantata Am Geburtstage des Kaisers by A. Diabelli & Co., VN 8873 as his op. posth. 157, with the title Constitutionslied, celebrating the new constitution after the failed Vienna Uprising.
