Laßt mich! laßt mich! ich will klagen
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE
Laßt mich! laßt mich! ich will klagen,
Frölich seyn nicht mehr!
Aboudahab hat geschlagen
Aly und sein Heer.

So ein muntrer kühner Krieger
Wird nicht wieder seyn;
Ueber alles ward er Sieger,
Haut' es kurz und klein.

Er verschmähte Wein und Weiber,
Gieng nur Kriegesbahn,
Und war für die Zeitungsschreiber
Gar ein lieber Mann.

Aber, nun ist er gefallen.
Daß er's doch nicht wär'!
Ach, von allen Bey's, von allen
War kein Bey wie er.

Jedermann in Sirus saget:
»Schade, daß er fiel!«
Und in ganz Egypten klaget
Mensch und Crocodil.

Daher sieht im Geist, wie's scheinet,
Am Serail mit Graus
Seines Freundes Kopf, und weinet
Sich die Augen aus.
                    Da Capo.

Deixeu‑me! Deixeu‑me! Em vull plànyer
Language: Catalan (Català)  after the German (Deutsch)
Deixeu-me! Deixeu-me! Em vull plànyer,
no seré mai més feliç!
Abu Dahab ha vençut
Alí i el seu exèrcit.

Un guerrer tan valent i ardit
no existirà mai més;
de tots era el vencedor
i els escorxava en petits trossos.

Ell menyspreava el vi i les dones,
només seguia el camí de la batalla
i per als redactors de diaris
era un home ben estimat.

Però ara ha estat abatut.
Si tan sols no ho hagués estat!
Ai, de tots els beis, de tots,
no hi havia cap bei com ell.

Tothom a Síria diu:
“Quina llàstima que hagi caigut!”
I per tot arreu a Egipte es planyen
homes i cocodrils.

Daher veu en visions, segons sembla,
al serrall, amb horror,
el cap del seu amic i plora
fins buidar els seus ulls.
