erscheint ein andrer Raum als Spiegelung
wie jener, der uns hier entgegenwehte:
ein künftiger, der an Erinnerung

Sich fortgibt, ohne uns gewährt zu sein.
Wie eingeschränkt ist alles uns Verliehne!
Wer sagt den Inhalt einer Apfelsine?
Wer liest bei jenem Licht im Edelstein?

Musik, Musik, gesteh, ob du vermagst
ihn zu vollziehn den unerhörten Hymen?
Ach, du auch weißt am Ende nur zu rühmen,
gekrönte Luft, was du uns schön versagst.
