Gute Nacht
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Wenn es die Liebe spricht;
Schlug an mein Herz von Zweifeln bang,
Gute Nacht, ichzweifle nicht!

Good night
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
“Good night,” has a lovely sound
When Mother says it.
“My dear child, sleep well,
Good night and don’t fuss.”
“Good night,” is such a charming phrase,
When said to the weary,
Who diligently strive on and on,
Knowing no relief until rest.
“Good night,” sounds so soft and mild,
When softly whispered to one in pain.
It conjures the Angel of Peace,
So soothing to the heart.
“Good night,” is such a beautiful sound,
When said by the pious,
To those before the Father’s throne
Looking forward to a better dawn.
“Good night,” has such a sweet sound,
When it’s spoken out of love;
When my heart pounds with doubt, [I hear]
“Good night,” [and] have no more doubts!
