Sem' zelenych molodcov brali v plen konja.
To ne seno v kopne, ne kotel v ugljach, -
Ataman sidit na pne v soroka remnjach!
Ataman na pne verchom, na vostok licom.
Nabivaet trubku mchom, melkim veresom.
Doložil emu zelenyj pro pochod nočnoj.

Ataman, - skazal on, Šljachom šljalis' sem' voron.
Krasnyj grib širokošljapyj k nam popal v polon.
Ataman sidit kak lun': Čto, popalsja, grač?
Pozadi ego choluj, vperedi-palač.
Ja davno zadumal dumku-klast' griby v groby.
Do tvoej glubokoj lunki pjat' minut chod'by.
Nagrazu tebja tes'moj, krepkoj, cholenoj.
Ty svezeš' moë pis'mo v štab Duchonina.

Komissar skazal: Čeldon, prinimaju smert'...
Obo mne Moskva i Don pesni budut pet',
Na besedach, na sobran'jach budet plakat' med',
O moej razluke rannej budet grom gremet'!
