Das frohe Fest ist aus

The merry dance is o'er
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
The merry dance is o'er, the crowd now homeward pour, all now are gone! 'Twas joy to be with you, belov'd one, now adieu! We'll meet again! He presses me close to his breast, his eyes speak his heart's request: "O stay with me!" When evening again is here, the moon shines soft and clear, I'll come to thee!" But his pleading eyes would say: "A moment longer stay, beloved sweet maid!" My heart for me replied, I could not leave his side. O that I staid!
From the Fielitz score.
