from Volkslieder (Folksongs)
Translation Singable translation by Henri Collet (1885 - 1951)

Villancico aragonés
Language: Spanish (Español)
Attención a mis coplicas
porque voy, con gran contento,
a cantar las alabanzas
del Sagrado Nacimiento.

A caballo en un jumento
la Virgen a Belén marcha,
y San José va delante
pisando nieve y escarcha.

En un portalito oscuro,
llenito de telarañas,
entre la mula y el buey
nació el redentor de almas.

Esta noche nació el Niño
entre la paja y el heno.
¡Quién pudiera, niño hermoso,
vestirte de terciopelo!

Écoutez tous mes complaintes
Language: French (Français)  after the Spanish (Español)
Écoutez tous mes complaintes,
Car je vais, l'âme sans crainte,
Pour chantonner les louanges
De Jésuset dans ses langes.

Sur un âne à robe pie
A Bethléem va Marie,
Et Saint Joseph qui se penche
Foule aux pieds la neige blanche.

Dans l'obscure et pauvre crèche
D'une roche grise et rèche,
Sous les regards qui l'inondent
Est né le Sauveur du monde.

L'enfant naît et puis tressaille
Dans le foin et dans la paille.
Que ne puis-je lui étendre
Un velours épais et tendre !
