from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Za morem sinichka ne pyshno zhila
Language: Russian (Русский)
Za morem sinichka ne pyshno zhila,
Ne pyshno zhila, pivo varivala,
Solodu kupila, khmelju vzajmy vzjala,
Chjornyj drozd pivovarom byl,
Sizyj orjol vinokurom slyl.
Daj zhe nam, bozhe, piva svarit',
Piva svarit' i vina nakurit'!
Sozovjom gostej – melkikh ptashechek,
Sovushka - vdovushka nezvanaja prishla;
Snegir' po senichkam pokhazhivajet,
Sovushke golovushku poglazhivajet.
Stali vse ptichki mezh soboju govorit':
Chto zh ty, snegirushka, ne zhenish'sja?
Rad by ja zhenit'sja, da nekogo vzjat'!
Vzjal by ja pervatku, to matka moja,
Vzjal by ja chechjotku, to tjotka moja,
Vzjal by ja sinichku, - sestrichka moja,
Vzjal by ja soroku, shchepetlivaja.
Vzjal by ja voronu, dolgonosaja.
Jest' za morjami perepjolochka,
Ta mne ni matushka, ni tjotushka,
Tu ja ljublju, i za sebja voz'mu.
Zdravstvuj, khozjain i s khozjajushkoju,
S khozjajushkoju i s malymi detushkami!
