from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Ne bely snegi
Language: Russian (Русский)
Ne bely snegi vo chistom pole,
Snegi zabelelis', akh,
Snegi zabelelis', zabelelis'.
Zabelelisja mojego druzhka
Kamenny palaty, to palaty,
U palatushek stojat dva shatra,
Shatry shelkovye, shelkovye;
Chto vo tekh shatrakh stojat dva stola,
Stoly dubovye, dubovye.
U stolov stojat tam dva stulika,
Stul'ja klenovye, klenovye.
Chto sidjat na nikh dva molodchika,
Dvoje molodye, molodye.
Na stolakh stojat dve chernilicy,
Obe zolotye, zolotye.
U molodchikov po peru v rukakh,
Per'ja lebediny, lebediny.
Dobry molodcy pishut gramotki
Po beloj bumage, po bumage.
Protiv nikh stoit krasna devica,
Sama gor'ko plachet, gor'ko plachet:
«Ty ne plach', ne plach', krasna devica,
Ne plach', ne pechal'sja, ne pechal'sja.
Chto ne byt', ne byt' tvojemu druzhku,
Ne byt' vo soldatakh, vo soldatakh.
A chto byt'-to, byt' tvojemu druzhku,
Vo donskikh kazakakh, vo kazakakh!»
