from Volkslieder (Folksongs)

Ulicza shirokaya
Language: Russian (Русский)
Ulicza shirokaya,
Travka-muravka zelenen`kaya.
Znat`-to, mne po ulichke ne xazhivati,
Travku-muravku ne tapty'vati,
Na svoyu lyubeznuyu ne glyady'vati.
Von moya lyubezna pod okoshechkom sidit,
Pod oknom sidit, takuyu rech` govorit:
Mal`chik ty', mal`chik moloden`kij,
Udalaya golovushka tvoya!
Ne sadisya ty' vozle menya,
Vozle menya, krasnoj devicy'-dushi,
Vozle oteczkoj docheri!
Grozen, grozen batyushka,
Groznej togo matushka:
Ne puskayut na uliczu gulyat`,
Pustyat – ne pustyat pri vechere,
Pri vechere, pri vechernej pri zare,
A ya, molodeshen`ka, dogadliva by'la,
Pryalochku vzyala, na posidelochku poshla:
Kury' vspeli, – domoj nejdu,
Drugie vspeli, - ne dumayu idti,
Tret`i vspeli, - zarya vzoshla,
Zarya vzoshla, ya domoj poshla.
