by Joseph Antoine Autran (1813 - 1877)

Dimanche
Language: French (Français)
Sur la campagne et sur les bois
Je ne sais quel sommeil s'épanche,
Que berce au loin ta douce voix,
Cloche qui sonnes le dimanche.

Ce le jour de loisir sacré.
Aucun laboureur dans les plaines,
Pas de faucheurs tondant le pré,
Pas de laveuses aux fontaines.

Le vent lui-même parle peu,
L'arbre n'agite aucune feuille ;
On dirait que sous l'œil de Dieu
La terre prie et se recueille.
