from Volkslieder (Folksongs)
Translation Singable translation by Robert Jardillier (1890 - 1945)

Smutný šuhaj
Language: Slovak (Slovenčina)
V kláštorskej doline smutný šuhaj žije;
nik sa ho nepýtá: šuhajko, čo ti je?

Čo mi je, to mi je, len mi je volačo,
nebolelo by ma srdce pre ledačo.

Pojdem do kostola, klaknem na kolena;
budem prosiť Boha, že byš mojou byla.

Le garçon affligé
Language: French (Français)  after the Slovak (Slovenčina)
Au vallon du couvent l'amant vit abattu ;
qui donc à demandé : Mon pauvre ami, qu'as tu ?

Ma douleur est à moi, me donne le frisson ;
si j'ai le cœur si gros, ce n'est pas sans raison.

Me mettant à genoux au pieds du crucifix,
je prierai le bon Dieu que nous soyons unis.

From the Štěpán score.
