Ismène croit à mes promesses
Language: French (Français)
Ismène croit à mes promesses,
Dans mon retour voit son bonheur.
Comment recevoir ses caresses,
Comment abuser sa candeur ?
Lui dir' ou taire mes faiblesses,
Déchirer ou tromper son cœur ?

Pour toucher l'objet qui m'enchaîne
J'ai fait d'inutiles efforts
Avec la trop sensible Ismène
Je suis léger, j'ai tout le tort ;
D'un cœur dédaigne j'ai la peine,
D'un cœur ingrat j'ai les remords.

Mais dans Rosine une âme pure
Sembloit excuser mon penchant,
On ne vit rien dans la nature
D'aussi parfait, d'aussi touchant ;
En l'adorant le cœur s'épure,
Car on l'imite en l'adorant.

Cheveux dont la teinte est si belle,
Que l'art ne sauroit l'imiter,
Sur mon cœur, sur ce cœur fidèle
Je veux en tout temps vous porter ;
Quand il ne battra plus pour elle,
Ma tombe doit vous conserver.

Combien de fois pendant l'absence
De mes pleurs je veux vous baigner,
Ces pleurs couleront en silence,
Rosine doit les ignorer ;
Ils seront doux en sa présence,
Seul il est affreux de pleurer.

Meni Ismena sercem viryt'
Language: Ukrainian (Українська)  after the French (Français)
Meni Ismena sercem viryt'
I žde, šo ja vernusja znov.
Jak cju znevažyty doviru,
Jak obmanut' ïï ljubov?
Vona mene kochaje ščyro,
ïï ž ja zradyty hotov.

Taïtysja, čy rvat' šaleno
Ti uzy, ščo jednaly nas?
Meni vsja viddana Ismena,
JA ž ïj smutnyj hotuju čas.
Vsim sercem žde vona na mene,
V mojemu ž serci plomin' zhas.

Koly ž z Rozinoju buvaju,
Tak lehko na duši meni —
Ničoho kraščoho nemaje,
Jak v oči hljanut' čarivni,
JA vsju ïj dušu vidkryvaju,
Dolaju dumy navisni.

A kučeri ïï chvyljasti —
U sviti kraščych ne znajty,—
Na serci ja hotov na ščastja
Nosyt' ci kvity čystoty
Až poky dni moï skinčat'sja,
Ščob z nymy j u trunu ljahty.

O, skil'ky raz v rozluci z neju
JA ïch sl'ozamy obmyvav,
Žuryvs' samotnistju svojeju
I vid Roziny ce chovav,
Ta lyš od ljuboï mojeï
Nadij na radist' dožydav.
