Koval'
Language: Ukrainian (Українська)
«Numo, šče raz, mij kovalju,
Vdar po dzvinkij stali stallju!»
– «Oj, v ruci vže syl nema,
Zasteljaje oči t'ma…»
«Bil'š zachopljuj hrud'my duchu,
Ščob okripnuty, ta j buchaj.

Dužče byj, chaj žar valyt',
Chaj od bolju stal' syčyt', –
Z toï muky, z toho bolju
Ty skuješ vinec' na volju;
Bude volja u vinci –
Ožyvut' todi j starci…»

Metušat'sja iskry, sjajut',
I hudut'-hudut', spivajut',
Nače bdžoly ohnjani…
Vže pro sonce čut' pisni…
A koval' kryčyt':
«Vmyraju! Bil'še syly vže ne maju!» –

Na kovadli styhne stal',
Pid kovadlom – sam koval'…
– «Oj, vmyraju!» Ta, kriz' tuhu,
[Bil'š]1 z kovadla čuty druhu
Rič veselu ta novu:
– «Oj, žyvu, žyvu, žyvu!»
