by Georg Scheurlin (1802 - 1872)

Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Von den Höhen ins Gelände
Legt die Nacht die linden Hände;
Durch die Wipfel leis in Tönen
Weht ein stillendes Versöhnen;

Auch die Vöglein in dem Laube
Zwitschern:  Hoffe, liebe, glaube!  --
Und die Glocke singt im Liede:
Herz, nun balde kommt dein Friede.

Confirmed with Georg Scheurlin, Heideblumen: Gedichte, page 115. Appears in Mohnblumen, in Abendstimmen, no. 1; and confirmed with Deutscher Musen-Almanach, vierter Jahrgang, ed. by Christian Schad, Würzburg: Stahel'sche Buchhandlung, 1854, page 122.
