by Larisa Petrivna Kosach-Kvitka (1871 - 1913), as Lesya Ukrainka

Bula vesna vesela, shhedra, my`la
Language: Ukrainian (Українська)
Bula vesna vesela, shhedra, my`la,
Prominnyam grala, sy`pala kvitky`,
Vona letila xutko, mov stokry`la,
Za neyu vslid spivuchiyi ptashky`!

Vse ozhy`lo, use zagomonilo –
Zeleny`j shum, veselaya luna!
Spivalo vse, smiyalos` i bry`nilo,
A ya lezhala xvora j samotna.

YA dumala: "Vesna dlya vsix nastala,
Darunky` vsim nese vona, yasna,
Dlya mene til`ky` daru ne pry`dbala,
Mene zabula radisna vesna".

Ni, ne zabula! U vikno do mene
Zaglyanuly` vid yabluni gilky`,
Zamy`gotilo ly`styachko zelene,
Posy`paly`s` bilesen`ki kvitky`.

Pry`ly`nuv viter, i v tisnij xaty`ni
Vin pro vesnyanu volyu zaspivav,
A z ny`m pry`ly`nuly` pisni ptashy`ni,
I lyuby`j gaj svij vidguk z ny`m pry`slav.

Moya dusha nikoly` ne zabude
Togo darunku, shho vesna dala;
Vesny` takoyi ne bulo j ne bude,
Yak ta bula, shho za viknom czvila.
