Nous avons rencontré des dindons emphatiques Des lapins prolifiques Des chapons vieux garçons Nous avons rencontré des oies très distinguées Des poules intrigués Et des chœurs de pinsons !! Nous avons rencontré Monsieur l'maire et l'euré La mercièr et son frèr' Le r'ceveur et sa sœur. Nous avons fait un beau voyage ! C'est le premier jour du printemps Les oiseaux se mett'nt en ménage Chacun voudrait en faire autant. Nous avons fait des découvertes Tous les ruisseaux ont rajeuni Les bois ont mis leur robe verte Et l'on dit que c'n'est pas fini. Nous avons rencontré des abeill's enfièvrées Des cigal's inspirées Des lézards couchés tôt. Nous avons rencontré des vach's en rob' de bure Des chèvres en fourure, Des moutons en manteau. Nous avons rencontré l'sacristain et son chien La baronne et sa bonn' Le bedeau et son veau Nous avons fait des découvertes : On refus' du mond' dans les nids Un' seul rose s'est offerte A vingt papillons réunis. Nous avons fait un beau voyage C'est le premier jour du printemps Les oiseaux se mett'nt en ménage Tout l'mond voudrait en faire autant.

We made a lovely journey!
We stopped again and again,
drinking cider in every village,
picking lilacs in the gardens.
We met emphatic turkeys,
prolific rabbits,
unmarried capons.
We met distinguished geese,
puzzled hens,
and choirs of chaffinches!!
We met the mayor and his clerk
the haberdasher and her brother
the postmaster and his sister.
We made a lovely journey!
It was the first day of spring,
the birds were pairing off
as all of them wanted to do.
We made discoveries:
all the streams were young again,
the woods had donned their green clothing,
and we're told that's not the end of it.
We met feverish bees,
inspired crickets,
lizards that turn in early.
We met cows wearing homespun,
goats in fur,
sheep in coats.
We met the sacristan and his dog,
the baroness and her maid,
the beadle and his calf.
We made discoveries:
visitors are banned from nests,
and only one rose opened out
to a group of twenty butterflies.
We made a lovely journey.
It was the first day of spring,
the birds were pairing off
as all of us would like to do.
