Et le Monde et la mort entre eux se desguisèrent
Un jour, pour pouvoir mieux l'homme Mondain surprendre.
L'adjournent pour ce fait, et puis l'interrogèrent,
Qu'il dît auquel des deux pour serf se voulait rendre.

L'homme Mondain cuidant ne s'adonner qu'au Monde,
Par le Monde trompeur s'asservit à la mort.
Mais se voyant dèçu il appella du tort
A un qui par sa mort chassa la mort du Monde.

Il  Mondo e la Morte, ben camuffati, un mattino,
per meglio sorprendere l’uomo mondano,
lo catturarono con il permesso di scegliere
di chi dei due si sarebbe fatto schiavo.

L'uomo mondano, dedito solo al Mondo,
Il Mondo ingannevole accettò di servire fino alla morte.
Ma scoperto l’inganno, chiamò poi in suo soccorso
Colui che con la sua morte scacciò dal Mondo la Morte.
