Meine Heimat
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ob ihr auch schmäht und scheltet,
Ich höre nicht danach hin,
Der Klang einer andern Stimme
Liegt mir immer im Sinn.
Sollt ihr mich heut noch jagen
Wie ein Bettelkind hinaus,
Lachend werd' ich und glücklich
Schreiten aus eurem Haus.

Eine Thüre weiß ich, die wird mir
Allezeit offen stehn,
Zwei Augen, die mir immer
Wartend entgegensehn.
Einen Mund, der jeden Morgen
Wie zum Willkomm mich küßt,
Ein Herz, das heut und immer
Meine Heimat ist.

My homeland
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Though you may taunt and rebuke,
I do not listen to it,
The sound of a different voice
Is always in my mind.
Though today you may yet chase
Me out like a beggar-child,
Laughing and happy I shall
Stride from your house.

I know of a door that shall
Be open for me at all times,
Two eyes that [shall] always
Look toward me in waiting.
A mouth that every morning
Kisses me as in welcome,
A heart that today and ever
Is my homeland.
