È la luna; e dai mortali
Su pei campi dell’ empiro
Vola un tenero sospiro
Come incenso di pietà.

È la luna, e terra e cielo
Danno ai mali tregua e oblio.
Questa è l’ora, angiolo mio,
Della pace e dell’ amor.
È la luna, e tutto dorme,
E amor veglia e amor consola
E di due fa un’ alma sola
Con un solo palpitar.

Over de verzilverde wolken
Wat de zielen gelukzalig vervult 
Van een melancholisch wellust.
“T is de maan; en van de sterfelijken
Omhoog langs de velden van het hemelrijk
Vliegt een tedere zucht
Als wierook van genade.

Het is de maan, en hemel en aarde
geven het kwaad een gevechtspauze en vergetelheid
Dit is het uur, mijn engel,
Van de vrede en de liefde.
Het is de maan, en alles slaapt,
En de liefde waakt en de liefde troost
