Die brennen
Und woll'n nicht lieblich sein -- :
Die musst du trennen
Bei Zeiten
Und scheiden, 
Sonst gibt es Noth und Pein!

Zwei Herzen
Voll Treue,
Die wollen eins stets sein -- :
Die soll ohn' Reue 
Und Leiden 
Nichts scheiden,
Sie müssen eins ja sein!

Two nettles
That burn
And do not wish to be nice -- :
Those you must separate
In a timely manner
And segregate,
Otherwise there will be woe and misery!

Two hearts
Full of faithfulness,
They always wish to be as one --
Without rue 
And without suffering,
Nothing shall separate them,
For they must be as one!
