Das Veilchen im Thale
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  DUT ENG
Ein Veilchen blüht im Thale,
Erwacht am Morgenstrahle;
So duftig und so blau
Ist [kein's]1 mehr auf der Au'.

Still guckt es aus dem Moose;
In seinem goldnen Schooße
Blinkt Thau so hell und rein,
Wie flüß'ger Edelstein.

"Willst hier so ungesehen
[In kaltem]2 Moos vergehen?
Komm mit in mild'res Thal,
In schön'rer [Sonnen]3 Strahl."

"Sollst dort in [lauern]4 Zonen,
In [Blumenhügeln]5 wohnen,
Wo nie der Schnee vergeht,
Doch ew'ger Frühling weht!"

Das Veilchen ließ sich pflücken,
Ein mild'res Thal zu schmücken,
Und dunkler schien sein Blau
In blendend weißer Au'.

Und von des Busens Klopfen
Entfiel des Thaues Tropfen;
Nie schön're Stelle fand
Der reichste Diamant.

Wie zart der Tropfen schmückte!
Das Veilchen sah's und drückte
[In süßem]6 Liebeswahn
Den Kelch noch inn'ger an.

Im Sitz der [Frühlingslüfte]7
Verhaucht' es seine Düfte
Am reinsten Sonnenstrahl,
Und starb im schönsten Thal.
