by Christian Winther (1796 - 1876)

Nu Dagen lukket har sit Øie
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Nu Dagen lukket har sit Øie,
Bag Skyen alle Stjerner døe;
Sig Bøgene for Stormen bøie,
Der suser over Land og Sø.

Men Solen kommer snart fra Østen
Og kaster Guld paa Skov og Kyst,
Saa from, veldædig, som naar Trøsten
Nedstiger i et sorgfuldt Bryst.

Nu har og Hun sit Øie lukket,
Ak, som har grædt saa mangen Gang!
Og Hjertet slumrer fedt, mens Sukket
Oplyses i en Drømmefang.

O, Trøstens Sol! Du Dig forbarme!
I denne Barm er godt at boe;
Stig Du derned med Kraft og Varme,
Saa skjenker Du jo Liv til To!
