Hoffe still
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Hoffe still! -- und mag auch alles
Feindlich deinen Wünschen sein:
Durch der Wolken düstern Schleier
Bricht ja neu der Sonne Schein!

Hoffe still! -- es naht die Stunde,
Die dir wiederbringt das Glück,
Und du schaust auf trübe Tage
Mit verklärtem Aug' zurück!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Julius Graefe, Dritte veränderte Auflage, Leipzig: Ed. Wartig's Verlag (Ernst Hoppe), 1885, page 10.

Hope quietly!
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Hope quietly! -- and even if everything
May be hostile to your wishes:
Through the murky veil of clouds
The sun's beams shall break anew!

Hope quietly! – the hour nears
That shall bring happiness back to you,
And you shall look back upon
The dreary days with transfigured eyes!
