Vittoria, mio core!
Language: Italian (Italiano)
Available translation(s): ENG ENG ENG GER POR SPA
Vittoria, mio core!
Non lagrimar più,
È sciolta d'Amore
La vil servitù.
Già l'empia a' tuoi danni
Fra stuolo di sguardi,
Con vezzi bugiardi
Dispose gl'inganni;
Le frode, gli affanni
Non hanno più loco,
Del crudo suo foco
È spento l'ardore!
Da luci ridenti
Non esce più strale,
Che piaga mortale
Nel petto m'avventi:
Nel duol, ne' tormenti
Io più non mi sfaccio
È rotto ogni laccio,
Sparito il timore!
Note (courtesy Laura Prichard): This text is from one of Carissimi’s more than 150 solo cantatas, which were written for professional singers who entertained in wealthy Roman homes. The earliest source for this song is Manuscript Mus. G 28 at Biblioteca Estense, Modena, and it appears in over a dozen early manuscripts, indicating its popularity. The first stanza is a refrain, and should be sung at the beginning and end of the song, as well as after the stanza ending "È spento l’ardore!"

Triumph, mein Herz
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Italian (Italiano)
Triumph, mein Herz!
Weine nicht länger.
Die hörige Liebe
ist erloschen.
Einst betrog dich die Falsche -
zu deinem Schaden -
mit Scharen von Blicken
voll verlogenen Kosens;
Treulosigkeit und Kummer
sind gewichen,
die Glut ihres grausamen Feuers
ist erloschen!
Von ihren lachenden Augen
gehen keine Pfeile mehr aus,
die eine tödliche Wunde
in meine Brust schlagen;
Weder Kummer noch Qual
machen mir weiterhin zu schaffen;
jeder Fallstrick ist zerrissen,
verschwunden die Angst.
