by Christiane Rosalia Friederik (1839 - 1901), as Ada Christen

Abendlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT
Die Sonne sinkt.
Jählings schwebt
Kühles Dämmern
Hin durch das Thal.
Fernes Hämmern,
Verlorner Schall zittert,
Bebet, leis' hell
Klagend über den Grund.

Zaghaft singend,
Regen sich Stimmen
Matt in den Blumen.
Es trinken die Immen
Die letzten Düfte,
Die letzte Süße.

Weich durch die Lüfte,
Scheidegrüße der Dämmerstund',
Gleitet ihr Summen
Scheidegrüße der Dämmerstund'.

Langsam erhebt
Zu ernsten Gestalten,
Zu Berg und Wald,
Die lautlos stehn,
Der Mantel sich bald,
Das graue Falten,
Der Nebel webt.

Schüchtern vom Baum
Lockt Amselschlag,
Die Töne verwehn,
Hörbar kaum im Abendwind.
Es ist still.
Wie ein müdes Kind
Entschlummert der Tag;
Ein Stern erblinkt.
