Jeg træder de Perler

Jeg træder de perler blanke
sammen med varsom hånd.
Jeg slynger om halsen den slanke
et tungttvundet perlebånd.

Jeg sætter en ring på din finger,
en ring, der skal skinne som ild:
en solstråle, gylden og klinger,
krummer jeg sammen dertil.

Et purpurrødt tæppe jeg spreder
fremfor din fine fod:
som brusende silke sig breder
mit dampende hjerteblod.

Jeg sidder ved floden og græder
og binder dit perlebånd.
Og natduggens perler jeg træder
med skjælvende, varsom hånd.

J’enfile des perles brillantes
d’une main soigneuse.
J’enlace autour de ton svelte cou
un collier de perles finement tressé.

Je glisse une bague à ton doigt,
une bague qui brillera comme le feu :
rayon de soleil , doré et éclatant
que je façonne pour toi.

J’étends un tapis pourpre
devant ton pied délicat :
le sang fumant de mon cœur
s’étend tel une soie bruissante.

Je suis assis au bord de la rivière, je pleure
et je tresse ton collier de perles.
Et j’enfile les perles de la rosée nocturne
d’une main tremblante et délicate.
