Mein Edmund
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the Scottish (Scots)
 Mein Edmund gab mir einen Ring,
Besetz mit feinem Diamant.
Ich gab ihm wohl ein besser Ding,
Mein treues Herz, als Unterpfand.
Mein Edmund o!

Lieb-Edmund, der mein Alles ist!
Verbergen muß ich's öffentlich,
Wie lieb du deinem Mädchen bist;
Doch still und heimlich liebt sie dich.
Mein Edmund o!

Mein Edmund brach -- so schieden wir --
Laut weinend noch ein Goldstück ab,
Und reichte stumm die Hälfte mir;
Die will ich wahren bis ins Grab.
Mein Edmund o!
