Stornello
Language: Italian (Italiano)
O fior del prato!
Maggio di fiori tutto il mondo allieta,
Ma il più bel fior ne l'alma or m'è sbocciato.
Sfida ogni brina
Il fior ch'io tengo e sullo stel sostiene
Petali d'or, corolla cilestrina.
O fior del verde!
Alma di donna a la ragion sta sorda
E nel torneo d'amor vince chi perde!
Ansia profonda!
Amor che a cor gentil ratto s'apprende,
Occhi d'azzurro tiene e chioma bionda.

Stornello
Language: English  after the Italian (Italiano)
O flower in the field!
May that gladdens the world with flowers!
But the most beautiful flower is the one that now bloomed in my heart.
It defies every frost
the flower that I bring - and it holds upon the stalk
golden petals and sky-blue corolla.
O flower in the green!
The soul of a woman is deaf to reason
and in the tournement of love wins he who loses!
Deep anxiety!
Love, which quickly seizes on a gentle heart,
has blue eyes and blond hair.
