  Wie schön, juchhe!
Vom Mattenklee
Durch Blüthenschnee
Zum Himmelszelt, dem blauen,
  Hinauf, hinauf zu schauen!

  Juchhe! dann kühn
Von hohen Flühn 
Durch all das Blühn 
Auf grünen Grund zu blicken, 
  Ein Lied hinab zu schicken!

  How lovely, far, far,
In springtime
When it snows blossoms,
And bird songs ring out,
  To wander upward, downward!

  How lovely, hurray!
From the clover of the lea
Through the blossom-snow
Toward the canopy of heaven, the blue [canopy]
  To gaze upward, upward!

  Hurray! then boldly 
From the high rock faces
To look down through all the blooming
Upon the green valley,
  [And] to send a song downward!
