Der eroberte Helm! Die erbeutete Wehr

Duell ist bei Strafe des Beiles verpönt ...
Doch er liegt, der die römische Wölfin gehöhnt!

Liktoren, erfüllet des Vaters Gebot!
Ich besitze den Kranz und verdiene den Tod -

Bevor es sich rollend im Sande bestaubt
Erheb ich in ewigem Jubel das Haupt!"
