by Pieter Cornelis Boutens (1870 - 1943)

Maanlicht
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
Het maanlicht vult de zuivre heemlen
  Met glanzende geheimenis,
De luisterblauw verten weemlen
Van Die alom en nergens is.

Alleen de groote zonnen hangen
Als feller kaarsen in dien schijn:
De ziel herdenkt heur lang verlangen
  In nietsverlangend zaligzijn:

Alsof van achter diepe slippen
  Haar doolend tasten eindlijk vond
Met hare warme blinden lippen
Nog lichter lust dan uwen mond.

Weg boven dood en leven zweven
  Wij op in duizelhellen schrik:
O kort en onbegrensd beleven
Van eeuwigheid in oogenblik!. . .

Het maanlicht vult de zuivre heemlen
  Met glanzende geheimenis,
De luisterblauwe verten weemlen
Van Die alom en nergens is.
