by (Johann) Gottfried Kinkel (1815 - 1882)

Letztes Gebet
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich habe dir mich hingegeben,
O Herr, der die Gestirne lenkt!
Dir bring' ich wieder Leib und Leben,
Die du in Gnaden mir geschenkt.

Mit manchem Feind hab' ich gerungen,
Nun kommt als letzter Feind der Tod;
Gib, daß die Seele unbezwungen,
Nicht bang verzagt in letzter Noth.

O naht euch, lichte Engelschaaren,
Der Feind rückt an in raschem Lauf --
Tragt aus den irdischen Gefahren
Den freien Geist zum Himmel auf!
