O! wer mit der Liebsten thut reisen!
Language: German (Deutsch)
O! wer mit der Liebsten thut reisen,
Dem blühet der Frühling zur Stund,
Ob düster und grau noch der Himmel,
Ob kahl noch des Thales Grund.
Gleich muß ja die Sonne mir lachen,
Ach! blickst du so wonnig mich an!

Oh! he who travels with his beloved
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Oh! he who travels with his beloved,
For him springtime blossoms at once,
Though the sky still be dreary and grey,
Though the depths of the valley still be bare.
Immediately the sun must smile on me,
Ah! when you look at me so blissfully!
Immediately the larks must rise
Joyfully up from the plains.
And if your cheeks, lovely one, glow
As beautifully as flaming roses,
Immediately I see it burgeoning in the vale,
Immediately I see it blossoming on the heights!
Yes! he who travels with his beloved,
He surely has happiness as a companion:
Oh, if only the road would never end,
Were it a thousand times longer!
