Keine Frühlingsluft wehte Leben zu,
und es grünte nicht auf der Au' das Gras,
goldner Sonnenschein strahlte nicht herab
und es freute sich nicht der Mond mit uns, 
nein! bei Schauerfrost, unter Nebelgrau'n
glüthest küssend du in den Armen mir.

Nächte rabenschwarz, Nächte stürmisch wild,
zogen Wölkchen gleich an der Sonn' vorbei,
durch die Winterlust zog die Wintersbraut
und sang Lieder uns Zauberlieder vor, 
ja! sang in Träume uns, Wunderträume ein,
trug uns weit hinweg in ein Feenreich!
