by Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger (1779 - 1850)

Alt opreist Maanen staaer
Language: Danish (Dansk)
Hun ligger paa sit Leie af sammenflættede Siv
i sine Klæder med foldede Hænder og synger:

Alt opreist Maanen staaer
    Bag sorte Skove,
Og Nattergalen slaaer
    For Gud at love.
Dens Toner smelte blødt
    Og tone længe,
Og Bækken griber sødt
    I sine Strenge.

Midt i den friske Skov
    Een Blomst kun visner,
Snart er den Dødens Rov,
    Dens Hierte isner;
Men lad kun Blomsten døe!
    En bedre springer
Snart af det faldne Frøe,
    Paa Æthervinger.

O Nat! snart vil maaskee
    Din hulde Maane
Mit blege Ansigt see
    I Døden blaane,
Lad den da smile smuk
    Paa mig i Nøden,
Og mød mit sidste Suk
    Med Morgenrøden!

O Israfil! saa kom
    Med Dødens Blikke!
Bring mig for Allahs Dom!
    Jeg skielver ikke.
Velsignet er hans Navn,
    Han huldt forlader.
Knug mig kun i sin Favn!
    Han er min Fader.
