Wie i bi vawichen zu mein Dirndal...
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Wie i bi vawichen zu mein Dirndal g'schlichen,
Hob' beim Fensta freundla eini guckt;
Do sieh ich's mit Schmerzen a oudas Biabel herzen,
Daß mi bis in d'Seel hat bluti' zuckt;
Und i geh gonz stad mit mein Herzensload,
Hob den Weg zum Dorf hinaus verfehlt;
Gibt's denn gor kan Wöh, gibt's denn gar kan Stöh,
Der mi außi führat aus der Welt?

Konn's denn mögli sei, mit Herz und Mund wars mei',
Mei' Glück, mei' Alles wor ja nur in ihr;
Denkts i hob eng's g'sogt, s'hat mi g'kröfti packt,
I moa as wird bold aus sei' scho' mit mir.
Das wir i eng bitten, duits mei' kloani Hütt'n.
Und wos drin is', treu ihr übergöb'n;
Drum werd's mi nit schelten, i kaun's nit vergelten,
Denn dö kurzi Liab war's ganze Löb'n.

Verzweiflung treibt mi fort, von dem stillen Ort,
Wo Liab und Treu für mi' vaschwund'n is,
Wo i so treu hob' g'liabt, intzt so tiaf betriabt,
S'derf mir kaner trauen, glaubts mir's g'wiß.
I konn nimma bleib'n, s' thut mi 'weita treib'n,
I muß ganz außi schon aus diesen Löb'n;
Nimm mich auf zu Dir, i scheid' recht gern von hier,
Auf Erd'n kaun's für mi' ka Glück mehr göb'n.

As I recently sneaked off to my lass
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
As I recently sneaked off to my lass,
I looked amiably into her window;
There with pain I saw her embracing another lad,
So that, right into my soul, it made me flinched bloodily;
And now I wander about silently with my heartache,
I missed the way out of the village;
Is there no street, is there no pathway
That would lead me out of this world?

Can it be possible then, with heart and lips she was mine,
My happiness, my all was only in her;
Remember that I have said it to you, it has seized me mightily,
I think it shall soon be all over with me.
I would like to ask you, give my little hut
And what is in it faithfully to her;
She will not scold me for that, I cannot make it up to her,
For this short love was my whole life.

Despair drives me away from the quiet place
Where love and faithfulness vanished for me,
Where I loved so fervently, I am now so deeply saddened,
No one should trust me, believe me truly,
I can no longer stay here, I am driven onward,
I must go utterly out of this life;
Take me up the Thee, I gladly depart from here,
Upon earth there can be no further happiness for me.
