Morgenlied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
  Süß lächelnd, ein vergnügtes Kind,
Begrüßt das Licht die Flur;
Ihm folgt der junge Morgenwind
Auf duft'ger Blumenspur.

  Da schwebt in's klare Frühlingsreich
Ein Silberglockenton,
Dem zarten Ruf der Liebsten Gleich:
"Mein Herz, es heitert schon!"

  Aus grünen Feldern, reich bethaut,
Die Lerche singend schied,
Und wo die Höh' am reinsten blaut
Verklingt ihr Morgenlied.

Morning song
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Add this translation to your Reprint Basket
  Smiling sweetly, a gleeful child,
Light greets the lea;
The young morning wind follows it
Upon its scented, flowery trail.

  Thereupon the silvery sound of a bell
Wafts into the limpid springtime realm,
Like the gentle call of the beloved:
"My heart, it is already growing more cheerful!"

  From green fields, richly bedewed,
The lark departed, singing,
And where the heights are of the purest blue,
Its morning song dissipates.
