Gruß an die Heimat
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Heimat, da ich wieder kam,
Stätte, wo die Erde lebt,
schau, ich stehe traumumwebt
sonder Leid und sonder Gram.

Knarrst du altes Stadttor noch?
Spielt der flinke Sonnenschein
malerische Kringelein
in des Ratturms Fensterloch?

Ja ihr Alten bliebet jung.
Aber ich -- es scheint vielleicht
Täuschung, die dem Wahne gleicht
aber ich altere in Erinnerung.

Unter mir knirscht feiner Sand.
Vor mir dehnt sich breit das Meer.
Leuchtend kommt der Lenz daher.
Junggebadet grüßt er dich, mein Land.

Greeting to my homeland
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Homeland to which I returned,
Place where the earth lives,
See, I stand enveloped in a web of dreams
Without sorrow and without grief.

Do you still creak, you old city gate?
Does the agile sunshine [still] playfully
Paint little circles in
The window aperture of the city tower?

Yes, you old ones remained young.
But I -- it seems perhaps
A deception that is similar to madness
But I am aging in memory.

Under me, fine sand crunches.
Before me the sea stretches out broadly.
Radiantly, springtime comes along.
Bathed in the Fountain of Youth, it greets you, my country.
