by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

De eerde doomt, de biezen leken
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
[De eerde]1 doomt, de biezen leken
     van den vroegen morgenbrand,
die, in 't oosten opgesteken,
     bijt in 't baardig weideland.
Grauw is 't over nacht gevrozen;
     over [dag]2, van 's morgens vroeg,
viert en vonkt het zonneblozen
     fel, maar nog niet fel genoeg,
om het koele graf te ontsluiten,
     waarin 't zaad geborgen ligt,
wachtende, om opnieuw te spruiten,
     lente, naar uw zonnelicht.
