by Guido (Pieter Theodoor Jozef) Gezelle (1830 - 1899)

O Jesu, vol genaden
Language: Dutch (Nederlands)
       Quid retribuam?...

O Jesu, vol genaden,
wie zal [mij nu beraden
  hoe 'k U bedanken moet?]1
'k En weet van veel gebeden
den zin niet, [of]2 de reden:
  och, help mij, Jesu zoet!

Uw [Vleesch]3, uw Bloed, uw Leven
[hebt Gij aan mij gegeven]4,
  [U zelven heel en al]5;
[en ik, 'k en weet wat weerd is,
noch wat van U begeerd is,
  noch wat ik geven zal!]6

Mijne armoe wilt verrijken,
o Jesu, en niet kijken
  als naar Uw eigen goed:
U geve ik U, al beven:
wat kan ik beter geven
  als U, o Jesu zoet!

Uw Herte zij, en 't mijne,
in blijdschap en in pijne
  [vereenigd: en]7, voortaan,
[ach, mochte]8 ik, zoo gebonden,
en vrij, met U, van zonden,
  den weg des hemels gaan!
