by Joseph Karl Benedikt, Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 - 1857) and sometimes misattributed to Otto Friedrich Gruppe (1804 - 1876)

Frühling
Language: German (Deutsch)
Und wenn die Lerche hell anstimmt
Und Frühling rings bricht an:
Da schauert tief und Flügel nimmt,
Wer irgend fliegen kann.

Die Erde grüßt er hochbeglückt,
Die, eine junge Braut,
Mit Blumen wild und bunt geschmückt,
Tief in das Herz ihm schaut.

Den Himmel dann, das blaue Meer
Der Sehnsucht, grüßt er treu,
Da stammen Lied und Sänger her
Und spüren's immer neu.

Die dunkeln Gründe säuseln kaum,
Sie schaun so fremd herauf.
Tiefschauernd fühlt er, 's war ein Traum -
Und wacht im Himmel auf.

Note: misattributed to Gruppe in a catalog of Reinecke's work; needs to be checked.
