Fins i tot dormint la vaig sentir i d’això em vaig despertar, ara l’escolto i sento com la seva remor omple la nit amb mil veus humides i fresques, xiuxiueigs, rialles, gemecs, encisat, escolto el rebombori dels fluents, suaus sons. Després de tots els durs, àrids sons dels rigorosos dies de sol, que íntim, que benaurat temorós crida el suau lament de la pluja! Així, d’un pit superb, per més esquiu que vulgui semblar, irromp un dia el sanglot del goig infantil, l’agradosa font de les llàgrimes, i brolla i es plany i trenca l’encantament, de forma que allò que emmudí pot parlar, i obre el camí per a noves benaurances i sofrences i eixampla l’ànima.
