by Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 - 1926)

Dorfsonntag
Language: German (Deutsch)
Im Wirtshaus auf den blanken Dielen
schwingt sich die Jugend frisch und laut,
des Burschen Hand, so hart von Schwielen,
drückt die des blonden Mädchens traut;
bierfrohe Musikanten spielen
ein Lied aus der ›Verkauften Braut‹.

»Trinkt zu! Ich will euch heut besolden.«
Der Pfarrherr. Der liebt muntern Geist.
Und wie er nach dem Tanz die Holden
zu seinem Tische kommen heißt,
da geht der Abend draußen, golden,
und lacht durch alle Fenster dreist.

Confirmed with Rainer Maria Rilke, Sämtliche Werke, Band I, S. 40-41, Frankfurt am Main: Insel-Verlag, 1955, p.40
